SEND APPEALS (TRIBUNALS)

As Educational Psychologists, it is likely that at some point in your career you will be asked to provide advice for a SEND appeal.  This can be daunting for many EPs and feelings of anxiety or 'imposter syndrome' are perfectly natural.

Our Senior Educational Psychologist has specialist knowledge and experience of the SEND Appeals process and has conducted county-wide research on the views of Educational Psychologists' on providing advice for an appeal.  The research included work with the Local Authority's SEND Appeals Team and members of the SEND Team.  As part of the findings of this research, recommendations were made to the Local Authority's EP Service and to the Local Authority's systems.

The research measured EP confidence prior to the recommendations being made and then once the changes had been put in place.  The results identified significant improvement in EP confidence.

Using this critical insight into the SEND Appeals process, we are offering training for Educational Psychologists.  We are also able to offer training sessions to Trainee Educational Psychologists via their university courses.  Most recently we provided training to Year 1, 2 and 3 doctorate trainee cohorts at The Tavistock and Portman University.

Our training courses aim to:

- Improve your understanding of the SEND Appeals process.

- Improve your confidence in being asked to take on a SEND Appeal.

- Develop your skills as a practitioner.
